• Galatia Cepeda

Hi I’m Dr. Galatia Cepeda (or “Dr. G” for short). I am a Licensed Psychologist (granted by the of Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychology) and have been doing therapy for over 10 years. I received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Applied Behavioral Psychology from UCLA. I went on to earn my masters and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from Idaho State University. I also completed a post-doctoral fellowship at UC, Berkeley. Prior to moving to Houston, I worked as a university counseling center psychologist at St. Edward’s University in Austin.

Making the decision to go to therapy is a bold choice to take control of your difficulties and learn more about yourself. You are the expert on your life, so I feel it is essential to use a collaborative style in which we work together to create understanding and change. My therapeutic approach is eclectic drawing from cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, interpersonal, multicultural, feminist, and client-centered approaches.

I have worked with clients presenting with a range of issues and of all age groups and backgrounds. I currently work with adults and have a particular passion working with the following: university and college students, transition to adulthood concerns, career exploration, identity issues, transition to motherhood and parenting concerns, women’s issues, dating and relationships, LGBTQ+ individuals, gender identity concerns, the Latinx community, POC, marginalized and minority individuals, migrant and immigrant populations, religious concerns, self-esteem and confidence issues, and those simply wanting to live a more mindful and positive life. I am conversational in Spanish and Greek and enjoy working with bilingual individuals.
