Kandis Bell is currently counseling under the supervision of Maggie Chlebana, M.S., LPC at Kimberly Boyd Counseling Center. Kandis obtained her undergraduate degree in Behavioral Science from the University of Houston-Clear Lake in 2002. Kandis has a unique background as she pursued a career in sales and customer relations for eight years following graduation, then, upon starting a family, was fortunate to have the opportunity to stay home with her children until they were school-age. Kandis realized the success of the family unit is her passion and she is currently pursuing her masters in Marriage, Couples and Family Counseling from Lamar University. She will obtain her licenses as a Professional Counselor and a Marriage and Family Therapist so that she is competent to treat individuals, children, couples and families.
Kandis’ therapeutic approach is focused on the collaboration with the client in order to create an environment of trust, openness and honesty. She believes that clients should be empowered to overcome any obstacles they face. She utilizes person-centered and cognitive-behavioral approaches along with play therapy. Kandis feels that each client is unique and brings their individual insight about their own life and experience, therefore, the effectiveness of the technique should be based on the needs of the client. If a client has faith-based needs or background, Kandis can also offer a Christian outlook.
Kandis has a desire to work together with clients to address concerns with depression, anxiety, life decisions, stress, parenting, divorce, blended families and marital or couples’ issues. She is passionate about empowering individuals through their own strengths and abilities to achieve mental wellness and to live improved, successful lives through the skills learned from the therapeutic relationship.
